Lloyd Gosselink is pleased to announce the five law students selected to take part in our Summer 2021 Law Clerk Program!

Lloyd Gosselink takes pride in its long-standing and robust Law Clerk Program. This first-half Summer session, we are excited to welcome first-time law clerks Markicia Horton, Samantha Miller, Colin Davis, Nicholas “Hoo” Ray, and veteran law clerk, Madison Huerta. We look forward to continuing our tradition of providing outstanding law students with the opportunity to gain experience working with both principals and associates in all of the Firm’s diverse areas of practice.

• Madison Huerta, our returning law clerk, will be a third-year student at the SMU Dedman School of Law. Her experience includes clerking for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas and the Texas House of Representatives, where she worked on legislative initiatives. Before law school, Madison worked at the Texas Capitol as a legislative aide and assistant clerk for two state representatives.

• Markicia Horton is a student at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She served as the 2L Class President of the Student Bar Association and placed in the Thurgood Marshall School of Law Oil and Gas Society Negotiation Competition. Markicia’s interest in practicing environmental law stems from her prior experiences, as she previously worked at the Lone Star Legal Aid Environmental Justice Department and the Bureau of Land Management. 

• Samantha Miller is a student at South Texas College of Law Houston and is a member of the Environmental Law Society and the Oil & Gas Law Society. She has experience in the environmental division of the Harris County Attorney’s Office and other environmental organizations. In her free time, when she is not studying or working, she likes to volunteer. Samantha took this passion and founded Wine to Water TAMU, which raises awareness and develops solutions for those with limited access to clean water.

• Colin Davis is also a student at South Texas College of Law Houston and a  member of many student groups, including the Oil & Gas Law Society and the Environmental Law Society. He has interned with the Texas House of Representatives, mayoral campaigns, and more.

• Nicholas “Hoo” Ray is a student at The University of Texas School of Law. He has worked as the editor of the “Texas Environmental Law Journal.” His interest in writing expands to a play that he led and co-directed to assist undergraduate students with their writing skills. Hoo has clerked for the Texas Office of the Attorney General and as a student attorney at his school.
