Lloyd Gosselink is pleased to announce the three distinguished law students selected to take part in the second part of our Summer 2022 Law Clerk Program!

This summer, we are excited to welcome law clerks Trevor Mathes, Jake Shultz, and Elizabeth Sockwell.  Lloyd Gosselink takes pride in its long-standing and robust Law Clerk Program, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of providing outstanding law students with the opportunity to gain experience working with both principals and associates in all of the Firm’s diverse areas of practice.

  • Trevor Mathes is a third year student at the University of Texas School of Law, where he serves an Executive Editor on the Texas International Law Journal and Staff Editor on the Texas Environmental Law Journal. During his first summer in law school, Trevor worked as a legal intern for State Senator Royce West, where he learned about the intricacies of the legislative process and the interaction between people and the law. Prior to law school, he worked at Barnes & Noble where he gained valuable customer service experience. During his free time, he enjoys going to the gym, watching the Longhorns at DKR, and jamming out to Metallica.

  • Jake Shultz, a third-year student at Baylor School of Law, enjoys fulfilling and intellectually stimulating work. Before law school, Jake worked for five years as a geologist after earning an M.S. in Energy and Earth Resources from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Geoscience from Trinity University. Since starting law school, he has been a semi-finalist in the Dawson & Sodd Moot Court Competition, an advocate on Baylor’s AAJ National Mock Trial Team, and received the “Future Judicial Clerk Award” for his performance in Federal Courts. His legal experience includes a judicial externship with the Honorable Jeffrey C. Manske of the Western District of Texas, clerking for Nix Patterson, and assisting professors with their legal research. Jake loves spending time with his wife and son, traveling to new places, and trying unique foods.

  • Elizabeth Sockwell is a rising third-year law student at the College of William & Mary Law School. Elizabeth keeps busy at school serving as an Articles Editor for the William & Mary Law Review, Student Ambassador, and President of the Student Environmental and Animal Law Society. Before coming to law school, Elizabeth earned her B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Texas, which inspired her to pursue a career in Environmental Law. Her time in law school gave her the opportunity to intern for the Honorable Judge James Moody of the Eastern District of Arkansas, Virginia Coastal Policy Center, and Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. In her spare time, you can find Elizabeth hitting her local hiking trails, catching up on the latest true-crime podcast, and getting out on the water to ski.
