Lloyd Gosselink is pleased to announce the four distinguished law students selected to take part in the first part of our Summer 2022 Law Clerk Program!

This summer, in addition to veteran law clerk, Lauren Alexander-Bachelder, we are excited to welcome first-time law clerks Ava Dhakal, Jake Steen, and Michelle White.  Lloyd Gosselink takes pride in its long-standing and robust Law Clerk Program, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of providing outstanding law students with the opportunity to gain experience working with both principals and associates in all of the Firm’s diverse areas of practice.

• Ava Dhakal is a third-year student at The University of Texas School of Law, where she is the Media Coordinator for the Student Bar Association and a Student Ambassador. She is also a legal intern for a startup in Los Angeles. During her first summer in law school, Ava served as an intern for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, where she observed the complexities involved in complying with state laws and regulations in the medical field. Before law school, Ava volunteered with CASA of Travis County ensuring that foster children remain connected to their families as much as possible. She is a cat mom, can speak French and Nepalese, and enjoys Dancing, Tennis, and Creative Writing.

• Jake Steen is currently a third-year law student at the University of Houston Law Center. He serves as a member of the Energy and Environmental Law Society and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team. In 2021, he was a Champion in the UHLC ADR Intrateam Mock Negotiation Competition. A lover of public policy and the great outdoors, Jake worked as a political organizer and ranch hand prior to pursuing a legal career. Jake has since focused on merging his twin interests through gaining experience in environmental law areas, which is seen in his legal externship with the TCEQ. In his spare time, you may find Jake at one of his three favorite places: struggling on a golf course, watching his beloved Aggies go to battle at Kyle Field, or enjoying the work of literary master Leon Hale in the South Texas countryside.

•  Michelle White is a student at the University of Texas School of Law with experience working at the Texas State Board of Pharmacy where she gained exposure to the licensing and regulation of pharmacies. She also has worked with the Center for Women in Law where she helped provide support and resources for women in the legal field. She is currently serving as the Managing Editor for the Texas Environmental Law Journal and is a member of the Women’s Law Caucus, Texas Aggie Law Society, and Assault and Flattery. Prior to pursuing law, Michelle gained experience in Human Resources which she is able to translate into invaluable first-hand knowledge of employment law from the employer’s perspective. She enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors with her dogs and family, and periodically escaping the city to visit her family’s alpaca ranch.

•  Lauren Alexander-Bachelder, our returning law clerk, is a third-year law student at The University of Texas School of Law. She serves on the Executive Board of the Texas Environmental Law Journal, is the Communications Director for the Environmental Law Society, and serves as a member of the Women’s Law Caucus. Her experience includes an internship with Bayou City Waterkeeper and a judicial internship with the 126^th Civil District Court of Travis County in which she served under the Honorable Aurora Martinez Jones. Prior to law school, she worked as the Director of Operations for a tutoring company, where she organized and marketed education programs. She is proficient in Spanish, is an avid traveler, and loves cooking homemade pasta.
